We Had 5 Testers Sleep on the Saatva Silk Pillowcase—and It Transformed Their Hair
Written by Christina Heiser

The Saatva Silk Pillowcase is made from 100% mulberry silk to help reduce hair frizz, prevent skin creases, and keep you cool at night. Saatva employees with curly and wavy hair noticed smoother strands, better moisture retention, and less irritation after testing it—making this a luxurious yet practical beauty upgrade.
In my former life as a beauty editor, I was constantly testing out the latest and greatest beauty products to hit the market. One of my favorites that came across my desk many years ago was a silk pillowcase.
I have naturally curly hair, and I often wake up with frizz in the morning—but sleeping on silk helps alleviate this. Plus, when I get my hair blown out for special events, a silk pillowcase helps keep my mane nice and smooth.
So, I was obviously excited when I learned that Saatva would be adding a silk pillowcase to its premium bedding collection—and even more thrilled to be one of the first people to get a chance to test it out.
Ahead, learn more about the Saatva Silk Pillowcase and read reviews from five Saatva employees who tested the product.

What is the Saatva Silk Pillowcase?
The Saatva Silk Pillowcase is a pillowcase made from 100% long-fiber mulberry silk in a charmeuse weave. 22 momme silk fabric adds durability and is naturally hypoallergenic, breathable, and temperature regulating.
With a luxuriously smooth feel, this silk pillowcase lessens friction against skin and hair. It helps prevent those dreaded sleep creases and skincare product transfer onto your pillow. It also helps reduce hair frizz and breakage.
The Saatva Silk Pillowcase is ideal for anyone who wants a pillowcase that’s gentler on their skin or hair. It’s also a great option for side sleepers who frequently wake up with sleep creases or anyone concerned with hair breakage or frizz.
Saatva Silk Pillowcase reviews

My natural waves are very prone to frizz, so I always pay attention to my pillowcase material. I’m used to waking up with messy hair that needs a lot of styling help. I love this silk pillowcase because it’s so gentle on my hair.
The silk is naturally smooth, which reduces friction that can lead to frizziness. Since I started using it a few weeks ago, I’ve experienced less bed head in the mornings. I’ve also noticed less skin irritation. I often get professional blowouts, and now I don’t have to worry about my style being ruined overnight. This has become an integral part of my nighttime beauty routine.

My curly hair is prone to breakage, which is definitely top of mind for me while I’m sleeping. I normally sleep with my hair in a bonnet or a scarf—but I’m a hot sleeper, so the downside to those products is that they can make my head sweaty, leading me to wake up with frizz.
I was impressed with this silk pillowcase from the start. The packaging was luxurious, and the product is very lightweight and breathable. I’ve been using it for a few weeks and have noticed a difference in the appearance of my skin and hair. It’s so breathable, I haven’t woken up sweaty or with any added frizz. Plus, I haven’t noticed any skincare product transfer, either.

My hair type is also a little high maintenance. It’s naturally wavy, but I always wake up with it very frizzy. I wash my hair at night, but I never go to sleep with it wet because I know that can damage it.
I was excited to try this silk pillowcase to see if it would make a difference in my skin and hair, and the quality is definitely amazing. With other pillowcase materials, I’ve noticed that my skincare products will transfer onto the pillowcase whereas silk doesn’t have absorbency so products stay on your face.
If I want to have lower maintenance hair the next day, a silk pillowcase is crucial. I don’t wake up with crazy frizz and can actually manage it with a little bit of hair oil in the morning. It works really well.

I’ve named my hair Sunny, and she’s the love of my life. I speak positive words to her so she can thrive. She is tightly coiled but tends to get a little bit dry if she’s not taken care of. The silk pillowcase has been a good addition to my haircare routine. It helped with moisture retention and frizz prevention, which I really appreciated.
If my hair is in its curly state and it’s right after a wash day, I’ll usually sleep with it in a little twist to keep the moisture in. I typically wear a silk bonnet at night because other pillowcase materials would cause too much friction with my hair and it’d go in all different directions.
I had never tried a silk pillowcase before this, and I don’t know what I was waiting for. I used it with my curly hair and was able to forgo the bonnet. My hair didn’t snag or didn’t feel dry, which was great. My skin also felt very smooth—and I noticed that the silk pillowcase helped with temperature regulation, which is important to me because I sleep warm.

Chanel Suran, assistant customer communications manager
I have naturally wavy hair that’s on the thinner side. I always put my hair up in a bun when I sleep to protect it. I usually stick to cotton bedding because there’s more airflow, but I was impressed with how cool this silk pillowcase is. I’ve enjoyed using it more than other silk products I’ve tried in the past.
I even tried sleeping with my hair down one night while using the silk pillowcase, and when I woke up, my hair wasn’t frizzy. I noticed that I didn’t wake up with any marks on my face, either.
