Weighted blankets are one of the most popular sleep products of the moment—and for good reason. Research shows they can help reduce stress, which can, in turn, make it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep.
That’s why we’re excited to introduce Saatva’s Weighted Blanket, the newest addition to our luxury bedding collection. Here, learn more about the benefits of weighted blankets and the features of Saatva’s new weighted blanket.
What is a weighted blanket?
A weighted blanket is a blanket with some type of “fill” to make it heavier. Weighted blankets have been shown to have a soothing, calming effect. The feeling they provide is similar to being hugged—a science-backed phenomenon known as “deep pressure stimulation.”
A study published in the Journal of Sleep Medicine & Disorders found that people with insomnia had a calmer night’s sleep when using a weighted blanket, experiencing more sleep time and fewer movements throughout the night. What’s more, participants in a small study in the Journal of Occupational Therapy in Mental Health reported lower levels of anxiety after using a weighted blanket.
